Mahmoud Khalifa is Investment Director for Private Equity.
He holds the positions of Co-CEO of C3, the Managing Director of Lighthouse for Education Investment and Lighthouse Education.
Prior to joining CI Capital, Khalifa spent over three and a half years at Misr Capital, leading the Private Equity Team to establish a Healthcare PE structure and the acquisition of its main portfolio company, as well as the establishment of the Education structure, Lighthouse.
Prior to that, Khalifa co-managed the investment team at First Equity Partners, a regional family office with a focus on investing in building material and real estate with operations in Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and Morocco. The main focus of the team was the venturing of the Mega investment (from greenfield to fully operational) and then the exit in 2018, in addition to other investments in the Agribusiness and F&B retail.
Khalifa worked at Cairo Financial Holding for five years, going through Research, Investment Banking, before being a part of the newly established PE department in 2010. He was part of the company’s first Direct Investment (Agribusiness, 2010) and the establishment of the first onshore Private Equity Fund, Bedaya I, overlooking its fundraising and deal sourcing (2012). He worked at Citibank from 2007 to 2008.
He graduated from the American University in Cairo, with a BA in Political Science and minor Mathematics.
