Mr. Hesham Gohar is Group Chief Executive Officer at CI Capital, Egypt’s leading diversified financial services firm. He has responsibility for managing the Group’s overall operations and driving its strategy. Through its various subsidiaries and investments, CI Capital has a leading market position in Egypt across leasing, microfinancing, consumer lending, mortgage financing, in addition to investment banking advisory, securities brokerage, asset management, alternative investment and research services. CI Capital has approximately 3,000 employees across the group and generates consolidated revenues of c.EGP3.6billion, with an overall lending portfolio that exceeds EGP12billion. It is listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of EGP4.2 billion, having Banque Misr, one of Egypt’s largest commercial banks, as its principal shareholder.

In addition to his role at CI Capital, Mr. Gohar also serves as Non-Executive Chairman of Taaleem for Management Services, a leading higher education platform that owns and operates Nahda University in Beni Suif (NUB), the largest private university in Upper Egypt with more than 6,000 students across 8 faculties, including the Faculty of Medicine in partnership with the Medical University of Vienna. Taaleem is also developing Badya University, a university in West Cairo as part of a joint venture with Palm Hills Developments.

During his 20+ year career, Mr. Gohar has been a board director of more than 20 companies and completed >75 transactions in Egypt and other growth markets with an aggregate value of $18 billion+. Prior to joining CI Capital, Mr. Gohar held senior leadership positions in investment banking and private equity investing across the region at Shuaa Capital (Group Head of Principal Investments), Dubai Group and Beltone Financial, among others.

Mr. Gohar is a graduate of the American University in Cairo with a BA in Economics and completed Executive Education at Harvard Business School.
