Hazem Badran is CI Capital’s Co-CEO and Corplease Chairman; with more than 18 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking in the MENA region. Badran has played a significant role in turning around CI Capital to be the premium investment bank and financial services group in Egypt since he joined in January 2013. CI Capital is today the leading and fastest growing group in the fields of investment banking, asset management, securities brokerage, leasing and microfinance in Egypt.
Badran led CI Capital’s growth and transformation strategy, including its non-banking financial services platform, by acquiring a majority stake in both Corplease, Egypt’s leading financial leasing company and Reefy, the premier microfinance institution in Egypt. This is in addition to significantly growing CI Capital’s investment banking arm allowing it to offer integrated and diversified non-banking financial services.
As an investment banker, Badran was exposed to many landmark transactions, both on the M&A and ECM sides, that shaped the investment climate and capital markets growth in Egypt in the last decade.
Prior to joining CI Capital Badran had a nine-year career at EFG Hermes, where he played a notable role as a senior executive in growing the EFG Hermes franchise into the largest investment bank in the MENA region. Badran held numerous key positions at EFG Hermes including CEO of EFG Hermes for the Levant, and Managing Director for Investment Banking.
