Abd Elhamid Amer was named Chief Corporate Governance Officer in January 2010, Secretary of the Corporate Governance Committee at National Bank of Abu Dhabi in April 2006. He had been the General Counsel and Head of Legal Department Since 1999 and remains to enjoy his multifaceted tasks to this day with a primary mission of providing accurate and timely legal advice, identifying and addressing legal issues before they become legal liabilities and reviewing contracts, ordinances to the best interest of NBAD and its affiliates in addition to overseeing the legal, regulatory and compliance work for NBAD in view of its extensive network of international branches and diversifying activities. In his role as General Counsel and Head of Legal Department he was also appointed as Secretary to the Bank’s Board of Directors during the period of 1999-2004.
Mr. Amer has brought with him in excess of 30 years of experience where previously he served as the Manager of the Legal Department at Credit Lyonnais (Cairo-Egypt) and Legal Council for the Arab African International Bank (Cairo-Egypt) and partook in several positions and tasks that required immense and dedicated efforts such as his involvement, on the recommendation of the Central Bank of Egypt, and management of submitting the claim for the Egyptian workforce in Iraq before the UNCC-Geneva, with a claim amount exceeding US$ 500 million during the period 1993-1997; more so and during his realm as the legal Council at AAIB, Mr. Amer was also elected as Member of the Board of AAIB Pension Fund and later elected for the Presidency of the Employees Union. In addition and in 1994 Mr. Amer was appointed as the Chairman of the Arab Multinational Finance Company (AAIB had a 20% stake) -Luxembourg.
Mr. Amer graduated from the Faculty of Law- Ein Shams University- back in 1974 and a Certified Director from the EIoD in 2011.
