Hazem Badran is CI Capital’s Co-CEO and Corplease Chairman; with more than 16 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking in the MENA region, Badran played a significant role in turning CI Capital into a leading diversified financial services group - offering its services across six core lines of business: investment banking, securities brokerage, research, asset management, financial leasing, and microfinance.
Badran cooperated with CI Capital’s team to transform and develop the Group to hold premium and highly ranked positions, including the Investment Banking arm which is ranked as the number one advisor in Egypt. Similarly, the Securities Brokerage division is among the top-ranked brokerage companies in Egypt, while the Research arm widened its coverage across six markets in the MENA region. The Asset Management business has grown significantly to be one of Egypt’s largest asset managers, offering high-quality product that is well-recognised. Badran, along with the team, grew CI Capital’s non-banking financial services platform by acquiring CorpLease, the leading leasing company in Egypt, and Reefy, the premier microfinance institution in Egypt.
As an investment banker, Badran was exposed to many landmark transactions, both on the M&A and ECM sides, that shaped the investment climate and capital markets growth in Egypt in the last decade.
Prior to joining CI Capital, Badran had a nine-year career at EFG Hermes, where he played a notable role as a Senior Executive in growing the EFG Hermes franchise into the largest investment bank in the MENA region. Badran held numerous key positions at EFG Hermes, including CEO of EFG Hermes for the Levant, and Managing Director for Investment Banking.
Badran holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and has successfully attended the Investment Appraisal, Project Finance and Risk Analysis Program at the Harvard Institute for International Development.
Badran is a member of CI Capital Holding’s Board of Directors, CorpLease, CorpLease Emirates UAE, and Maridive SAE. He also chairs the Investment Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.
